Amazing! You are a wonderful storyteller. Honestly, you introduce Yokai and local gods better than I can, though I'm Japanese.😊

I just remembered I used to put a drawing of treasure ship "Takara-bune" under my pillow on New Year's Day( or JAN 2nd). I guess it was to have an auspicious dream. It probably comes from Edo(Tokyo) folklore and is related to the Seven-Lucky-Gods who are onboard the treasure ship.

Additionally, there was a magical charm written on the drawing. It's a "Kaibun" -- palindromic poem -- in the Waka style, which is related to an auspicious dream.

"ćŖć‹ćć‚ˆć® ćØ恊恮恭恵悊恮 みなめさめ ćŖćæ恮悊恵恭恮 恊ćØć®ć‚ˆćć‹ćŖ"

(Long night has passed, and all passengers are waking up, I hear the sound of waves and wind comfortably.) *I tried translation. lol.

Fantastic article! I've been casually reading a book on yokai (妖ę€Ŗļ¼†å¹»ē£ å¦–ć€…ć‚ˆć‚ćšēµµå·»)because I always found supernatural creatures and Japanese folklore interesting.
